Welcome to the

NOARLUNGA MODEL RAILROADERS Inc.

We started in 1989 as a small group of modellers with similar interests based at the home of one member who had built a layout. At that time we were known as the Reynella Model Railroaders and we first displayed our layout in November 1990 at the Reynella Fair.

The formation of an incorporated club followed in 1994. The Noarlunga Model Railroaders Incorporated was formed with a charter to promote the hobby. The membership has steadily grown with many active members, from very young in age to the young in heart, each with their own specialty giving our club a very diverse expertise and membership base.

The club is proud to have its own air-conditioned clubrooms on the historical site of the former Reynella Railway Station, Old Reynella. Julie Grieg MP officially opened our clubrooms on 6th December 1998.

We currently have one permanent layout, 15m x 6.5m. We also have a display layout known as “Lakeside” 10m x 2m. When not being used for exhibitions this is also on show in the clubrooms. In addition, some members have built their own layouts. The Main Layout  can be operated in normal DC and also has DCC operational capability.  "Lakeside"  only has DCC operational capability

Model railways are never finished and ours are no exception. There is often some addition or alteration happening to the layouts, and all members are encouraged to help and learn through this work.

All types of HO/OO trains are accepted both in prototype and quality, straight from the box, to modified, or scratch built. There are plenty of members who are both willing and able to help with these last two aspects; this is just one of the many benefits of a club membership.

Feel free to call into the clubrooms, talk to some members and see what we are all about.

Members can run any type of train that will suit the HO/OO two-rail track of our layouts. It is possible to see a train from almost anywhere in the world on running days. Kids are most welcome to both visit and join the club but an adult must accompany the very young.

WHAT WE DO

We welcome new members to join us at any time.

We organise and run swapmeets during the year to allow members and the public to sell unwanted railway items and to buy that elusive spare part or loco.

We display our portable layout (currently Lakeside) at exhibitions and similar displays, such as fairs and fetes in both South Australia and interstate.

We create and develop fellowship and friendship through our shared enthusiasm for our hobby.

Would you like us to be part of your event? We can put on a display for you. Contact us to find out how we may be able to help you.
